Caves spots in Minorca
In my opinion, Menorca is the best of all the Balearic Islands. It's a perfect blend of white sand and rocky coves, stunning turquoise water, rural paths, and stone walls.
The biggest "problem" (which is actually an advantage) is that the most beautiful beaches require a 10-30 minute walk or more, which significantly filters out mass tourism.
The island is clearly divided in two:
North: rockier, wilder, and windier, with open coves and less sand.
South: more famous coves, white sand, calm waters, and Caribbean-like colors.
If you like adventure, October is the perfect month: there are hardly any people, the heat isn't exhausting, and getting around the island is incredibly easy.
There isn't one clear main city.
Ciutadella is the prettiest for staying overnight and strolling in the late afternoon and evening.
Maó, where the airport is located, is more administrative, with a large port.
The usual way to get around is to stay in a central area and travel by car or motorbike. There's a tourist tax per night, as in the rest of the Balearic Islands.
The atmosphere is relaxed, ideal for couples, groups of friends, and solo travelers seeking nature and a good vibe. It's not a wild party island like Ibiza, although there is some nightlife in the port of Ciutadella during the summer.
The food is excellent: fresh fish, lobster stew, local cheeses, and simple yet top-quality ingredients. The local pace is calm, and the people are friendly and very respectful of the island.
