Laguna Grande Cuyabeno
The Laguna Grande, in the Cuyabeno reserve, is a lake in the middle of the Ecuadorian Amazon surrounded by jungle and total silence. You come here mainly for the sunset, which falls straight over the lake and leaves everything an amazing orange.
The best thing is that you can swim right in the middle of the Amazon. At first it's intimidating because of everything you imagine (crocodiles, weird creatures…), but in this area nothing happens and people get in with no problem. You go around in small canoes moving across the lake and the feeling is very wild, very real.
