Zunil Volcano
The Zunil volcano (3,542 meters above sea level) is one of Guatemala's most beautiful volcanoes and a perfect weekend getaway. The best option is to hike up the day before and camp at the base camp (located just before the summit at about 3,440 meters, where there are usually a few other tents). From there, you can go to the top to watch the sunset. The next day, get up early to see the sunrise from the summit and then head back down to the parking area for a swim. I camped there and suffered a lot from the cold and damp, but it was all worth it to see the sunrise.
