Ibon de Escalar
A high-mountain glacial lake located just above the Astún ski resort. It's surrounded by grassy slopes, grazing horses and cows, and rocky ridges, offering constant views of the Astún valley and the mountains that separate Spain and France. It's not the most spectacular mountain lake in the Pyrenees, but the scenery and easy access make it a very pleasant spot, perfect for a short hike. In summer it gets a bit crowded (but not too much), although it's quite large and you can easily find some solitude. I highly recommend doing the Three Lakes Route; I would definitely do it again.
