Ibon de Villamuerta
The upper Villamuerta lake (Ibón de Villamuerta) is slightly higher than the lower one and, honestly, it's the most impressive. The water is a stunningly deep blue, and on a clear day, the Maladeta massif and Aneto peak are reflected in it, creating a spectacular view.
The surroundings are very open, with grassy areas where you can lie down peacefully, relax, or even have a small picnic. It's one of those places where you end up staying longer than you planned, simply admiring the scenery.
From here, you also have panoramic views of the Benasque Valley, so it's a great spot for taking photos or simply stopping and enjoying the Pyrenees in their purest form. Even if you're coming from the lower lake, this one is just as surprising and leaves you wanting to continue the hike.
