Laguna Grande de Peñalara
The most legendary lagoon in the Sierra de Guadarrama and one of those classics that, even though it's very famous, never disappoints.
The hike is quite well known, but the best part comes when you get past the first section of forest. Little by little the trees disappear and the landscape suddenly opens up: a large esplanade surrounded by mountains, with lagoons dotted around the area and natural grass meadows. It gets quite crowded at weekends.
