Cave of l'Escaleta
The Escaleta Cave is a small hideaway in the Escaleta ravine, perched atop a mountain wall. To reach it, a path climbs up from the river, with a short scramble, but it's not difficult and is safe to do.
The cave itself is tiny, but perfect if you want to do your first bivouac and don't fancy being on a completely exposed peak. From here, you have breathtaking views: the plains beyond the Forau de Aigüallut and the entire Aneto and Maladeta massif. It's a spectacle that will leave you speechless.
Furthermore, it serves as a strategic point for longer routes: from here you can continue towards Catalonia via the Collado del Toro pass, making it suitable for both day trips and multi-day excursions in the area.
