The Pass
This is a well-known surf spot in Byron Bay, especially popular with beginners. It's a right-hand wave, fairly small and easy, so it tends to get quite crowded because everyone goes there to practice.
The water is usually packed, so if you go in, you might find yourself moving around:
At the back, there are more experienced surfers,
and at the point where the wave breaks, a lot of beginners or those just learning gather.
Even so, the spot is great: the bottom is sandy, so it's comfortable and there are no tricky spots, and you can catch waves quite often if you find a good position.
It's also a great spot for sunset; you can see it really well from the beach.
