Vettisfossen
Vettisfossen, located in the stunning Utladalen Valley in Årdal, Vestland County, is one of Norway's tallest waterfalls. With a free-falling drop of 275 meters (902 feet), it is a natural wonder and one of Europe’s highest unregulated waterfalls.
Fed by the River Morkaelvi, the waterfall is part of the Utladalen Nature Reserve, known for its rugged terrain, dense forests, and diverse wildlife. It has been protected since 1924, ensuring its pristine beauty remains untouched.
Visitors can reach Vettisfossen via a scenic 5.5 km (3.4 miles) hike from Øvre Årdal. The moderate trail passes through picturesque landscapes, including smaller waterfalls and the historic Vetti Farm.
Best visited between May and September, Vettisfossen is a breathtaking destination that showcases Norway’s wild and untouched nature.
