Brocken
A very varied route combining trails through forests, waterfalls and viewpoints with the ascent to the summit of the Brocken, the highest point of the Harz mountains. Along the way you'll enjoy very different landscapes, from lush forests to wide panoramic views from the summit. The weather, especially in spring and autumn, can change quickly, so don't forget to bring a rain jacket. If you'd rather avoid the more demanding climb, you can always take the historic Brockenbahn, a steam train that goes almost all the way to the top and turns the experience into an outing suitable for everyone. At the summit you'll find a restaurant and accommodation, so you can even spend the night if you book in advance.
