Cerro Mackay
It's a peak right next to Coyhaique, and it's a fantastic plan if you enjoy hiking and don't have transportation, as you can also reach it from the city center.
The coolest thing is the vertical wall at the top, offering sweeping views of all the surrounding snow-capped mountains. Plus, it's free, there's hardly anyone there, and it's quite common to see condors flying very close, which adds a really cool vibe to the place.
It's a great option, for example, for days when you can't visit national parks (like Mondays), because you're independent. The climb is quite steep, especially towards the end, but the views of Coyhaique and the surrounding area keep getting better the whole way. At the very top is the summit with the Chilean flag, which is where you'll find the main viewpoint.
There's also a small cabin near the summit if you want to camp or simply find some shelter.
