Catedral y Capilla de Marmol
The Marble Cathedral, along with the Marble Chapel, are among the most famous spots in all of Patagonia and are located on General Carrera Lake, accessible from Puerto Río Tranquilo.
It's an area with marble formations in the water where you literally walk through caves and natural arches. It's quite touristy, especially in high season, but if you go during quieter months (like November), you'll find very few people.
Here are two ways to get there:
By kayak: This is the best option if you're up for a bit of paddling. You depart from the Puerto Río Tranquilo area and it takes about 15–30 minutes to get there. The great thing is that you can get among the formations, get closer, and experience it more freely.
By boat: This is cheaper, more comfortable, and shows you more points of interest on the lake in general, but you have less freedom to enter the caves.
The overall setting is quite stunning: crystal-clear water, surrounding cliffs, and the entire landscape of General Carrera Lake accompanying you throughout the trip.
